Wilderness retreat + 6 Months of Deep Grief Tending
A closed group container for learning to live alongside deep grief and wounds that are not meant to be healed.

In the depths of Hell a small lantern twinkles and blinks out. Over many months of deep sorrow and pain the light sparks and burns bright and goes out many times. Each time is unique and it gains a little bit before plunging it's bearer into darkness again. Each time it goes out more is revealed about moving through this dark underworld, with or without a light. An intimacy and trust develop, one that can only arise through the intimacy afforded by the darkness. This place is not Hell at all, it is the rich mythical darkness from which all life and joy emerge. Sloping tunnels lead upwards into the daylight and provide useful forays but this dusky underworld has become integral to life, nourishing, protecting, Grandmother, Lover and Home in one.
On February 14th 2024 I experienced the unexpected and traumatic loss of my husband, co-parent and best friend. I had plenty of experience with big loss at the time but nothing that blew me apart quite like this, an infinite blast of almost complete destruction that left me huddling in the metaphorical and mythical ashes of grief. And yet, amongst this place of ashes, a kind of Joy and Enlivenment I had never experienced before began to live right alongside the wound.
So far, I have survived the initiation and completed mentorship as a grief tender with beautiful Elders in the field and am witnessing others.
What We Will Do
Guided by the grief wisdom of the Dagara peoples of West Africa, the mythological understandings of Martin Prechtel and our own broken hearts, we will learn to court our sorrow in community. Each in person meeting will be held outdoors and we will be focusing on developing our relationship with the ecosystem and non-human peoples. We will sit quietly, wail, rage and sing together. Build alters and create ritual to honor the pain of loss that comes with living.
The Eros of Grief
Grief is a highly erotic experience that is filled with vitality, consumes the senses and overtakes the spirit. It is generative in nature and as potent as the depths of winter when all the Earths power is gathered and ready to create new beauty.
To find the contact point and dance to that drum is the way to usher a new world into being and honor all that has come before us.
Who This is For
Anyone who is interested in learning how to be with the pain of life and loss in ways that do not artificially close their wounds.
Those who wish to step outside of being victimized by their pain and find joy alongside their tears.
This group is for anyone who wishes to be held and witnessed in their suffering and gently guided through the dark.

This will be a limited size closed group for the duration of the program. You will have access to a private Facebook group and as much e-mail support as needed. Group members will also receive a discount on any private coaching sessions they might choose to schedule.
We are able to offer scholarship and work trade (for locals) so please reach out if finances prohibit you from signing up.
